6 Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Palm Bites products contain high quality Belgian dark chocolate, which provide the perfect balance of bitter and nutty richness to contrast the sweet dates and crunchy nuts. Besides being utterly delicious, when eaten in moderation, dark chocolate also boasts a multitude of health benefits.

Dark chocolate also contains about half the amount of sugar than milk chocolate, and usually contains no milk (vegans rejoice!).

Some of the health benefits of dark chocolate include:

  1. Antioxidants. Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants such as flavanols and polyphenols, which help to neutralize free radicals in the body and prevent oxidative stress. Cool right?

  2. Reduce Risk of Heart Disease. Studies have shown that the flavanols found in dark chocolate caused a drastic reduction in heart disease risk.

  3. Lowers Blood Pressure. Many studies have shown that dark chocolate can improve blood flow and cause a decrease in blood pressure.

  4. Nutrient Rich. Dark chocolate contains soluble fibre and minerals including iron, manganese, copper and magnesium.

  5. Lowers Cholesterol. Dark chocolate has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol levels, while increasing HDL levels (known as 'good cholesterol'), which overall can improve risk factors for heart disease.

  6. Anti-Inflammatory. The chemicals found in dark chocolate help to reduce inflammation causing pain.

Have we convinced you to enjoy dark chocolate yet?!
